Telephone bill is one of the areas where every one attempt to save to the extent possible. More so, people who make long distance calls through their land connection or mobile phones will have to bear huge expense on the telephone bill. To reduce the expense, it is always advisable that such people buy a phone card.

These are prepaid cards easily available in all retail stores and even in petrol bunks, parlors, coffee house, news paper dealers, grocery shops, shopping malls etc. The buyer pays the predetermined amount to the service provider. The caller is allowed to make calls up to the value paid and with every call; the value in the card gets reduced automatically. The Card has to be utilized within a specified period of time.

The buyer has a very wide range of tariff plans to choose from. Normally, the prepaid tariff plans will not have any hidden cost. The caller will not be bothered with monthly bill. In prepaid tariff plans, per minute call rate will always be considerably lower than the post paid tariff plan. It is said that the prepaid tariff plan will save about 50% to 80% in telephone bill.

While making an international or long distance call, the caller can avail the services of the Help Line provided by the service provider, if the need arises. To prevent misuse, each card is given a PIN number which is a confidential number. On dialing the PIN, the caller is connected to the toll free zone which does not attract any connection charges.
